Gospel accounts only mention authorities fearing His prediction that He will rise again, and sealing the tomb. However, the Bible is such an amazing book that that one can glean information from other Scriptures.
1 Pet 3.18-19
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
19 After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits
What would Jesus have announced? The following Scriptures tell of a theme of the preaching of Jesus. It seems reasonable that He would have spoken on the same theme when He entered the world of the dead.
Matthew 4.12-17
When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.
Mark 1.14-15
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Jesus announced in the world of the dead that the kingdom of God had dawned.
Revelation 1.18 is also relevant.
“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
A picture comes to mind: Jesus entering the world of the dead, announcing that the Kingdom has come, and saying: “You’re looking at the King!” Then demanding the keys to the world of the dead from Satan.

But David said to Saul, Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. (1 Sam 17.34-35)
Jesus entered the lair of Satan and defeated him!
Consequences For Us:
Believers need have no fear of death
1 Cor 15.52-57
For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Believers need have no fear of evil spirits
They all know about the announcement!

Kan ons aanvaar dat “Kingdom of the dead” nie God se hel is nie, maar die plek waar die wat verlore gaan gehou word?
Wat word bedoel met “Jesus entered the lair of satan”? Waar of wat sou dit wees?
Sou daar enige betekenis wees dat Jesus die boodskap aan hulle gaan verkondig het? Is hulle nie reeds verlore nie?

Hallo Jimmy, goed om van jou te hoor. Ek sou net so ver gaan as om te sê dat die “kingdom of the dead” in die konteks van die Skrifgedeeltes wat ek aangehaal het die doderyk is, waar alle ontslapenes heen gaan. Dink aan wat Jesus gesê het oor Lasarus en die ryk man. Beide was in die wêreld van die dooies, maar deeglik bewus van hulle verskillende toestande. Ek weet dat die geloofsbelydenis gesê het Christus het “ter helle” neergedaal. Ek glo nie dis die hel waarin satan en alle verdoemdes uiteindelik gewerp sal word nie, maar net die doderyk. Die verwysing na die “lair of satan” was na aanleiding van die analogie van Dawid wat die roofdier in sy lêplek gaan aanval het. Figuurlik verwys my “lair of satan”, die lêplek van satan, na die doderyk. Oor jou derde vraag moet ek eerlik sê ek weet nie waarom hulle juis die aankondiging moes hoor nie. Was daar nie dalk van hulle wat eintlik volgens die mate waarin hulle die waarheid geken het, die Here gedien het nie? Miskien kyk ons hier na die feit dat daar ’n aankondiging gemaak is wat deur die heelal moes weerklink, en wat veral in die doderyk gehoor moes word.
